Chiado<\/strong> is the most elegant and glamourous area in Lisboa.<\/p>

Chiado\u00b4s location is between La Baixa and Bairro Alto. All famous portuguese writers from ending\u00a0 XIX\u00a0 and XX century used to meet at\u00a0 Chiado. Fernando Pessoa was born there and has a statue in Rua Garrett.<\/p>

In august 1988 a big fire started in Chiado and reached Rua Garrett, destroying not only shops and offices but very important historic buildings. Chiado recovered in a decade thanks to a recuperation project led by famous architect Alvaro Siza.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Rua Garrett is the very heart of Chiado, core of intellectual Lisboa\u00b4s life in the XX century. Their limits are up with Largo do Chiado and Rua do Carmo down. All around you can find Opera Theatre Sao Carlos, Sao Luiz and Trindade Theatres, famous bookshops, Caf\u00e9 la Brasileira and Carmo Archeologic Museum. All area is well known as per most famous Brand shops, restaurants, caf\u00e9s and bars. Just in the limit with Rua Misericordia there is Bairro Alto full of graffitis, clothes hanging from Windows, restaurants and bars and probably best fados to enjoy.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

  • Convento e Igreja do Carmo<\/strong>: Largo do Carmo. ( 10 am -6 pm, Monday to saturday). In 1864 and old monastery was transformed in Archeologic Museum .<\/li>
  • Museo do Chiado<\/strong>: Rua Serpa Pinto, 4. (213 432 148) National Contemporary Art Museum. (10 am-6 pm, Tuesday to Sunday).<\/li>
  • Mirador de San Pedro de Alc\u00e1ntara<\/strong>: Rua de Sao Pedro de Alc\u00e1ntara. Unbeatable panoramic views of La Baixa, Alfama, Castelo de Sao Jorge, and Tejo river .<\/li>
  • Mirador de Santa Catarina<\/strong>: Espectacular view of Ponte 25 Abril, sunset, atmosphere and terraces.<\/li>
  • Igreja de Sao Roque<\/strong>: Largo Trindade Coelho. Mannerist and barroque jewel.<\/li>
